The recent flash flood that occurred in Ranau last week has forced 853 people from 177 families out of their homes and into the Ranau Purpose Hall that serves as a temporary evacuation centre.
The flood has badly affected the main rivers, clogging them with mud, wood debris and rocks, causing the district water treatment plant to cease operations. Due to this, there was a severe water shortage for affected people in Kota Belud and Ranau.
In the spirit of solidarity, representatives from Amazing Borneo made a trip to Ranau last Thursday to distribute 100 cartons of bottled water supply to affected families at the evacuation centre.
It is hoped that our contribution would be able to lighten the burdens of those affected by the natural disaster. We also hope and pray that the situation in Ranau will stabilize soon, following the magnitude 5.9 earthquake that hit the Ranau epicenter on Friday, June 6th 2015.
